(Transportation-News.com, May 23, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Strategic Vision, an auto-industry research company released their 2013 Total Quality Index, a study that rates vehicles within their segments. According to the study, more vehicles made in the United States won higher TQI scores compared to other international car companies. This is the first time it’s happened in over a decade.
Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, known as the “Big Three” or the “Detroit Three” have been forced to build better quality vehicles and create higher standards for the consumer’s industry. Since 1994, Strategic Vision has been pumping out reports to help consumers choose the best, quality made vehicles. The index looks at a wide range of factors, totaling 442 variables that give cars scores for those factors. In order to do so, the company uses concrete scales to gather emotions from 17,658 real drivers, all of whom bought 2013 models of cars from August to November of 2012.
Answers in the survey include “I like it” to “Satisfactory” and even “Failure”.
Vehicles such as the Buick Enclave, Ford Fusion and Dodge Dart were some of the vehicles to be winners of the Total Quality Index.
However, President of Strategic Vision, Alexander Edwards, says we mustn’t misinterpret the study. Hyundai and Toyota are still major forces in the automotive industry and should be looked at with high regard.
Based on the survey, the Index can conclude subtle elements that drive decision making when buying a car, including the amount of cupholders.
