The new Screaming Banshee Air Horn is an electric air horn designed for motorcycles, scooters, and ATVs. Designed to be heard over other noises and typical road and driving distractions up to three blocks away. Emits over one-hundred-and-thirty (130) decibels of sound.
"That was the first thing we wanted to accomplish with this horn," says Mr. Jepsen. "We wanted it to be loud. Louder than anything else on the road. The whole idea was to get attention when needed and make the rider heard. Most accidents occur simply because the other driver isn't paying attention or doesn't hear the motorcycle rider or doesn't know they're there. A hundred-and-thirty decibels is loud. To put that in a comparison, a military fighter jet, at full afterburner getting ready to launch, makes about that much volume. Loud? Indeed. Other drivers are not going to miss you when you set this horn off."
The Screaming Banshee Air Horn from PrimeEffects can either replace the existing horn or be installed as an additional horn. A short press uses the normal horn; after 0.2 seconds of depressing the button the loud horn activates with variable sound and flashes the high beams.
"Flashing the high beams gives an added visual element," says Mr. Jepsen. "We're going for getting as much attention as we can to the rider's presence. But honestly it's the sound that does it. That kind of volume, omnidirectional ... having this horn will up your safety dramatically."
