    Cardboard Boat Races and Demolition Derby at Rock Lane Resort and Marina


    (Transportation-News.com, April 18, 2015 ) Branson, Missouri -- The 3rd annual cardboard boat races and demolition derby are here again on May 16th, 2015. Registration starts at 9 in the morning. Judging will start two hours after the registration. Visitors can see all the boats on display and meet the builders. The race will start at 12 noon. The final race will be the Demolition Derby. It is a free-for-all with the trophy going to the last boat left floating.

    This event is open to the public and admission for observers is free. This annual event will be held at Rock Lane Resort and Marina on Table Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri.

    Hosted by the Table Rock Lake Composite Squadron, Missouri Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, the event consists of races between boats made from cardboard, tape, glue and adhesives. Builders put an incredible amount of work into these cardboard boats. A panel of judges will decide which entries deserve a trophy for a variety of different categories.

    "This is our one big fundraiser a year, so we want to make the most of it." Captain Amanda Lewis a spokesperson for Table Rock Lake Composite Squadron 147 said about the event. There will be food and drinks available all day. This is a great, fun family event at Table Rock Lake. It's a lot of fun.

    Individuals, teams and companies can join the fun and be part of the Cardboard boat race. This event allows participants to enjoy while simultaneously helping the Table Rock Lake Composite Squadron, a congressional chartered and assisted non-profit company which acts as the authorized auxiliary of the US Air Force. People can now help this organization to do their mission by means of improving their facilities, search and rescue operation by both ground and air, relief operations, education regarding aerospace for youth and the whole community and cadet programs.

    Participants can use any kind of cardboard, such as delivery boxes for freezers and fridges. Participants can also use boxes from bedding, bookcases, TVs, or other furnishing. They can utilize smaller pieces and glue to attach them as one. But keep in mind that the only material allowed in making boats is none other than cardboard. It could be of any thickness but should not be linked or attached to any kind of material like nylon or vinyl.
    Participants can use tape, paint, glue, water sealant and other things.

    The use of materials that contain toxic substances is not allowed as the organizer makes sure that Table Rock Lake will not be harmed. Wood and Styrofoam are not allowed, as well as metal or other components that can help in flotation.

    The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) provides several emergency-services and operational missions including Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief, Humanitarian Services, Air Force Support and Counter Drug Operations. The Table Rock Lake Composite Squadron is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. 100% of funds raised stay local.
