  • Towing Service in Ferndale Warns Drivers of Dangers of Snowplows during Winter Storms

(Transportation-News.com, December 17, 2016 ) Ferndale, MI – Dover Towing Services, a locally owned towing service in Ferndale, recently warned of the dangers posed by snowplows. As winter weather continues to impose dangers on Detroit area residents, snowplows will be rolling out to clear the snow and spread the salt.

With the welcomed service they provide, snowplows bring additional risks to Oakland County roadways. “Plows are a welcomed sight to most Michigan drivers. However, they can also be a nuisance when you’re trying to get to work, to an appointment, or wherever it is you are headed,” said Dover Towing’s owner. “This is when disaster can strike and cause drivers the unexpected misfortune of a winter accident.”

    Dangers of Snow Plows

Most people think of snow plows as something that helps to increase safety, but there are inherent dangers that come with them.

Danger #1: Flying Debris – As plows do their jobs, snow and other debris will be flying. This can damage vehicles who are either passed by or trying to pass a plow clearing the roads. Additionally, the salt being spread by these trucks can cause damage to cars and windshields of vehicles following too closely.

Danger #2: Damage To Parked Cars – In most Metro Detroit communities, there are snow emergency laws that prevent street parking during the winter weather. For those who choose to still park on the street, blows coming by can hit the vehicles, causes damage not only to the vehicle, but to the plow and also neighboring properties.

Danger #3: Pedestrians – While plow drivers are fully aware of their surroundings while providing service, it can be very difficult to see pedestrians when the slow is flying, especially late at night. Pedestrians should exercise extreme caution when plows are nearby.

Dover concluded, “If everyone exercises a little additional caution, plow drivers will be able to do their jobs successfully, and drivers will be safe, reducing the need for an Oakland County tow truck service.”
