  • NatureAir reduces global greenhouse gasses

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 08, 2010 ) San Jose, Costa Rica - As world leaders are trying to agree on ways to save the planet one airline in Central America has taken sustainable practices into its own hands. NatureAir , the worlds first carbon-neutral airline, has been an advocate of carbon neutral business since 2004. Based out of Costa Rica, NatureAir was practicing environmentally sound operations years before the President of Costa Rica announced his plans for becoming a carbon-neutral country by 2021. With all of the astounding information regarding climate change, we need to look at what effects effects ‘green’ policies will have on the world economy and industries.

Here is how NatureAir is doing its part:

    · NatureAir pays local landowners to keep their timber standing – offsetting 100% of its carbon emissions produced each year.

    · NatureAir created Costa Rica’s first biodiesel fueling station at their location in San Jose’s Tobias Airport. The company runs all of its ground operations vehicles on this alternative fuel.

    · Business wise, NatureAir is a success story remaining profitable despite the economic down turn. They are expanding their sustainable practices every year, resulting in higher net profit margins, and a goal to continuously lower emissions year after year.

The aviation industry has been growing 5% a year and accounts for 2-3% of global carbon emissions, according to the International Air Transport Association. NatureAir understands a growing carbon footprint is unacceptable for any industry and the aviation community has to do something now to lower this statistic.
