 (EMAILWIRE.COM, October 26, 2011 ) Kalamazoo, MI -- National and regionally known voiceover artist Larry Long is being recognized this month for 35 years of service to the media and entertainment industries. He started his first position doing news and commercials for a 1,000 watt AM station in Odseego, Michigan back in October of 1976.
Since then Larry Long has done regional and national commercials, audio books, radio and TV, as well as being involved in his local community as a volunteer for helpful causes like feeding the poor.
Over the last 35 years, residents in cities all over Michigan have heard Larry as the golden voice of many large radio stations, where he has been featured as the "ID personality", known in the media industry as "imaging." Larry says of his start in radio, "Back then we did everything: news announcing, commercials, DJ, liners, it was all the same person. Its much more common now for a voice like mine to handle the commercials while someone else at a local station does the DJ work. My focus now is on getting that golden sound that the public have gotten accustomed to from professional voiceover artists."
Larry has lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan for 35 years, and has served the local community both professionally and civically. He is also focused on national projects including imaging work for Pandora Radio, "Enjoy The Classics", radio and TV stations and a wide variety of book publishers who need audio book voiceover artist work.
Larry says his favorite job has been radio imaging, and his most valuable contribution to the community has been the recording of audio books for the blind and disabled. "I'm always glad to help out whenever I can," Larry says of his longtime work on projects for disabled citizens of Michigan.
