ItÂ’s written by Will Reiser, who based the film on his own experience being diagnosed with cancer at a young age. Seth Rogan who is ReiserÂ’s real life best friend co-produced this movie about Adam, a 27 year old guy with a good job, girlfriend and outlook on life suddenly being diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cancer. Rogan also plays the role of AdamÂ’s best friend Kyle who awkwardly tries to help the situation.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a a great job portraying the cancer stricken Adam who was told he had a 50 percent chance of survival. The 50 50 movie poignantly depicts how vastly different the people close to a cancer patient will react and deal with the news. The movieÂ’s director Jonathan Levine was able to create a film that actually makes a sad topic funny.
With a heartfelt storyline and performances from a stellar cast which includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogan, Anna Kendrick, Anjelica Huston and Bryce Dallas Howard, this movie is a must-see. 50/50 comes out on DVD and blu-ray early next year. The official 50 50 release date is set for January 24, 2012.
