  • Amarillo Civic Center Highlights Vendors reports National Trade Show Displays

(Transportation-News.com, November 18, 2012 ) Dallas, TX -- The Working Ranch Cowboys Association World Championships Ranch Rodeo will be displaying much more than lassos, horses, and bulls this year as vendors flock to the event to take advantage of the cowboy culture crowd.

As thousands of people come to see the rodeo event, vendors of all types will line up around the Cal Farley Coliseum, and look to cash in. For many vendors, this event is a huge opportunity to make money on items geared towards a rancher/cowboy loving crowd.

Vicke Sprouse, owner of Reata Gallery, said she will be displaying her art at the rodeo event, and hopes to make a serious dent. Vickie said her portraits of cowboys, horses, cattle, and ranches should be a huge hit for a demographic obsessed with western cowboy culture. She made clear that this event is often her most successful for selling because it is such a big event for real cowboys, who are very serious about the lifestyle.

Ms. Sprouse explained that she has been attending the rodeo as a vendor for over twenty years, and even competed in rodeos as a child. She noted her experience in cowboy culture as a huge reason why her art is so realistic. Vickie admitted that she travels twice a month, sometimes as far as 600 miles to sell her art at trade shows. Places like Oklahoma and Texas have the best opportunities for her art because she knows how real cowboy life is to people who live there.

A similar lifestyle was explained by Jim Tiffee, owner and operator of Amarillo German Roasted Nuts. Tiffee said that he and his wife, Gae, travel between 30 and 35 weekends each year to rodeos and other cowboy events, cooking and selling a variety of nuts to hungry people. In fact, Jim has become known as “The Nut Man,” around cowboy country.

As this year’s rodeo gets underway, there will be more at stake than just lassoing cattle. Vendors life Vickie Sprouse and Jim Tiffee rely on these type of events to make a living and will be looking to continue their success throughout the year.
