(Transportation-News.com, April 11, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- According to a new study, people truly are unable to help themselves when it comes to ordering room service, even when many of them know that the pricing is ridiculous.
Everyone is aware that room service prices are higher than the cost of the food. Whether it is snacks, meals, or desserts, the pricing is often ridiculously high and downright unfair. But not until recently has there been any proof that people seem to almost not be able to help themselves.
Yes, the day of the deal is past many, and that fact has been proven by TripAdvisor room service survey, which compared the common cost of items to the services cost that travelers purchase for when staying within hotels. The survey took a look at the general prices of items such as a club sandwich, a bottle of liquor, a can of soda, and other general consumables.
Among the U.S. Cities within the survey, Denver and Dallas had the best values while Las Vegas and Honolulu were the most expensive. One should certainly expect such things from the latter, but there were some general surprises. New York city has the cheapest peanuts on the list, while an airplane bottle of vodka costs $19 when in Vegas.
While one might suppose room service fanatics could utilize the list as an aid during their respective travels, there seems to be an obvious warning sign that prices are out of control at even the mid-range establishments. While placing an order is made simple via the phone, paying $8 for a bottle of water or $22 for a club sandwich is near insanity. That is even more ridiculous when one adds in gratuity.
The full list is shown on TripAdvisor.com, and includes international cities as well. And simply as a point of interest, if one wants to receive cheap dry cleaning whilst traveling, avoid Russia or Finland, where the price is nearly $17 all told.
