  • Motorcycle Awareness Increases Following Fatal Accident Reports Phillips Law Group

(Transportation-News.com, May 12, 2013 ) PHOENIX AZ – A motorcyclist died after colliding with another vehicle at an intersection on Wednesday around 4:30 PM. The collision occurred near Cave Creek Road and Union Hills Drive.

Reports indicate; the 20 year old boy was struck while riding his motorcycle by an 84 year old woman driving a Volkswagen. The boy was thrown from his motorcycle causing him to soar 200 feet through the air and his bike to burst into flames. Soon after the rider was flown to the hospital with life threatening injuries, where he later passed away, the boy was not wearing a helmet.

The elderly woman driving the Volkswagen was traveling east on Union Hills when she attempted to make a left turn onto Cave Creek Road, while failing to yield to the motorcyclist, she sustained minor injuries.

Statistics provided by the Arizona Department of Transportation demonstrate that 3,058 motorcycle accidents occurred throughout Arizona in 2011, which resulted in 140 fatalities and 2,442 injuries. In fact, by wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle, it can increase the chance of survival during a crash by 37 percent.

Due to this unfortunate event, our Phoenix motorcycle accident attorneys would like to remind all drivers to increase their awareness for motorcyclists, especially at intersections. One extra look could be the difference between a life or death situation for these riders.

Our attorneys believe that when an individual is injured or killed in a motorcycle accident by the negligent actions of another individual, the victim or family of the victim may be entitled to compensation for any losses or damages may have occurred.
