  • Honolulu Auto-Transport Company Celebrates Expansion

(Transportation-News.com, July 20, 2013 ) West Palm Beach, FL -- The Servco Automotive company of Honolulu announced an expansion of its car carrier fleet in order to handle the increased demand for delivery. The company announced two new trailers and trucks in its expansion.

The first brand-new carrier stable on Oahu is the first since 1990. The crew says it puts an emphasis on being environmentally friendly, clean-burning, and now has a full fleet of five trucks and trailer combos.

In the last fiscal year, the company transported over 40,000 vehicles to its varying dealerships. “We’re proud to do our part to bring new, more efficient technology to Hawaii, as we work to minimize our carbon footprint,” said Ronald Kirley, Car Carrier Services Manager. “In addition, the new technology allows for quicker loading and unloading, making operations more efficient.”

Each trailer is 75-feet in length and tallies 98,000 pounds when fully loaded. Each can transport nine cars per trip, and Servco uses its carriers for all types of vehicle brands. From Toyota to Subaru, Scion to Suzuki, and Chevrolet to Ford, dealerships can expect ability to transport from the Servco company.

According to the owner, the trailers are capable of operating on a 24-volt hydraulic motor. That type of power allows to transport decks up and down faster, while the operator is capable of controlling through a single input. This improves on the older model type, which utilized multiple controls. The loading, like in many operations, is don't from the ground. Older models had operators manually climbing the safety rails, which lead to more poor operator safety.

Kahu Kamanu led a blessing from the new facility with over 75 Servco employees and partners that attended the expansion celebration. The new haul carriers are expected to be both more safe and more efficient, to help boost the local economy in its automotive sector.
