(Transportation-News.com, August 25, 2014 ) Portland, Oregon -- More weather related car emergencies are reported this summer from flash floods, mudslides, and record level rainfalls from the Midwest to the East coast. Tools of Life reports that emergency personnel and first responders recommend auto owners should stock all of their cars with survival tools, including a car hammer, for fast exit during weather related emergencies.
A car hammer will break the car window for fast exit when people are trapped in their car. "We saw news reports of cars being swept away, along with people trapped in their cars, by flood and mudslides within this last month. There is nothing worse than watching helplessly as people are trapped inside their cars. Using a car hammer in these urgent situations can be the difference between saving a life, or watching someone perish," Michael Fung, President of Global Eye 2020 says.
It has not only been weather related car issues this summer that news reports have covered. In other areas of the country, record hot temperatures caused accelerated heating inside cars. When a child or pet is left in the car, even for a few minutes, while a parent runs into a store for an errand, the temperature inside the car raises so fast, a pet or child can die within minutes. Reports this summer of pet and child deaths from heatstroke caused by being left in a hot car have caused new legislation in some states giving passerby's the legal right to break into a car. A locked car, however, is not easily opened without an effective tool, like a car window breaker .
According to DMV.org, 529 children have died from overheating in cars since 1998. A passerby who sees a child or pet in distress is compelled to help. But without the proper tool, the best he can do is call 911 and wait for emergency assistance, and every second counts when a child or pet is trapped in a hot car. Equipped with a car hammer, however, a Good Samaritan has the opportunity to provide immediate relief, perhaps saving lives. While many states had passed legislation that makes it illegal to leave a pet or child unattended in a car, reports came through this summer, with incidences of children and animals dying in cars. Whether saving oneself and family or the life of a stranger, a car hammer is an essential tool to stock an automobile with, given such drastic inclement weather changes, and record temperature swings.
