A UUV is a small submarine and is used for different underwater tasks. This vehicle is classified into two categories: remotely operated and autonomous. Remotely operated UUV is controlled by cables, whereas autonomous UUV is operated independently through human input. Remotely operated UUV is divided into two classes: work-class and eyeball. Work-class remotely operated UUV is heavy and large and has the capability of lifting large equipment. Eyeball remotely operated UUV is small in size and used for scientific exploration, inspection, observation, and rescue. Autonomous UUV is programmed to gather oceanographic data.
